The pomegranate is more than just a fruit—it’s a symbol of life, resilience, and tradition in Palestine. Beneath its tough, protective exterior lies a fragrant, sweet treasure that’s celebrated in juice shops and homes across the region. This iconic fruit inspired me to create this watercolour painting, a homage to its beauty and cultural significance.
During a visit to Amman, while spending time with family, I stumbled upon a crate of pomegranates at a bustling market. Some were split open, their ruby-red seeds gleaming in the sun, while others remained whole, quietly hinting at the richness inside. Though seemingly overlooked, they radiated a quiet strength and beauty that demanded to be captured.
